Alice in Wonderland

This week I decided to display my Alice in Wonderland tea set. Plus, I already had it sitting out from the Mad Tea Party blog event :)

The White Rabbit checks the time on his watch. He's such a worry wart! I'm late. I'm late.

I love the illustrations on the tea pot. A profile of Alice is on the handle.

 Flowers grow on the spout.

The demi cups feature the White Rabbit on one side

and Alice on the other. The set also includes white spoons with a blue floral design.

Best of all, this little set comes in its own carrying case. All the dishes fit so snugly inside their little home.

The bottom of the tea pot reads Designed in England 2009 and Made in China.

A Mad Tea Party! {& a Giveaway}

Welcome one, welcome all to my Mad Tea Party!

For this year's Mad Tea Party, I thought I'd display my Alice in Wonderland tea pot. The tea pot is covered in lovely illustrations based on the book by Lewis Carroll.

The White Rabbit proudly stands on the tea pot's lid, holding his timepiece and umbrella. No need to fret about being late, Mr. Rabbit. We won't start without you!

  Look, there's the Mad Hatter!

I'm so glad he could make it. After all, what kind of Mad Tea Party could one have without the Mad Hatter?

I so hope you brought your appetite as there are lots of goodies to eat!

Little tea sandwiches rest on a Shelley China plate.

Delicious strawberries plucked from the garden.

Ooey, gooey brownies aching to melt in one's mouth.

Yummy blueberry scones fresh from the oven.

This miniature dish holds the butter for the scones.

The Chesire Cat couldn't make it today as he had other plans. So Mr. Froggy said he'd be delighted to sit in for him. He even tied his own bow tie with no help at all!

Shall we have our tea in these demi cups with matching saucers?

Lemon muffins are a delight with tea.

Sugary candy for your sweet tooth!

Peanuts covered with caramel and chocolate share the plate with some lemon muffins. Oh my! Someone has taken a mini-bite out of one of the muffins.

Yellow flowers, sunshine caught on stems, always make me happy.

~Giveaway~

I'm having a giveaway! I'm giving away 12x12 sheets of scrapbook paper, featuring dear Alice. There are five double-sided sheets, all different. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. The winner will be drawn next Saturday afternoon.

This giveaway is now closed.

And, though the shadow of a sigh
May tremble through the story,
For "happy summer days" gone by,
And vanish'd summer glory--
It shall not touch with breath of bale,
The pleasance of our fairy-tale. --Lewis Carroll

Vanessa's Mad Tea Party

If you haven't heard, Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist is holding her annual Mad Tea Party inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

I've only just signed up as I wasn't sure I'd have time this month. My birthday and four, FOUR!, of my nieces all have birthdays the last two weeks of July. So I've been super busy helping out, and of course, attending all those parties!

All the Mad Tea Party fun starts this Saturday, July 28th!

Ardalt ~ Bavaria

Today's tea cup and saucer is this charming set made by Ardalt of Bavaria, Germany.

The vignette featured is of a woman, in a garden type setting with a small child, and her husband (or admirer!), looking on fondly as they play. Flowers are everywhere! The scene reminds me of Marie Antoinette and her "play cottage" at Versailles.

I love the green color used on this set. It's very reflective with the light hitting it. The gold trim is in excellent condition. There's even a band of it on the interior of the cup.

Below is a picture of the matching dinner plate.

The dinner plate has this lovely, raised design around the edges. The saucer has a slightly different design around its edges. Dinner plate detail below.

Tea cup, saucer and dinner plate.

All three are marked Ardalt, Bavaria, Germany No. 9012.

Royal Minster Tea Cup and Saucer Set

Hello Everyone and Welcome!

Don't you just love summer? I do! Even though this year's been a scorcher. I think this is the hottest summer we've had in a long time. The temperature has been 100+ for the last three weeks or so.

Today's tea cup and saucer set is by Royal Minster of England. It features beautiful yellow flowers, a few small white flowers and some lovely, green leaves. I even suffered the heat to take the pictures outside.

This little gal decided to join in on the action. She's been so bored this summer, she needed to get out and have some fun!

They're resting in my neighbor's tree, which sits in between our backyards. When their doggies started barking at me, J came to the back door to see what was going on. I called out, I'm borrowing your tree for a few minutes. Lol... I love when my neighbors catch me doing crazy things!

I love this raised design around the bottom of the cup. A variation of it can also be found on the saucer.

Below is a close-up of the flowers on the backside of the tea cup.

Here's the bottom of the tea cup with the Royal Minster mark.
