Today, I'm linking up to Debbiedoo's Newbie Party. That's right, a party just for us newbies!
This morning, I did two pages for my journal. My current journal is actually a hardbound sketchbook. I love the paper and so far, it's holding up to all my abuse. The book is on the small side and measures 7 inches x 7 inches.
I used Elmer's Memory Book Glue pen, a black Sharpie poster paint pen, gold metallic paint, aluminum foil and magazine cutouts.
First, I painted the pages with the gold metallic paint.
I found an image I liked in a magazine, that was small enough for the page. Then I traced her onto aluminum foil. Apparently, pressing down too hard with an ink pen will tear the aluminum! Lol...I'm still not sure what possessed me to use aluminum foil.
After cutting her out, I glued her onto a piece of scrapbook paper. She became the anchor for the page. I trimmed some of the scrapbook paper down a bit and edged it with the gold paint.
For the opposite page, I wanted more gold. As soon as I saw this watch, I knew it had to go on the page! Plus, it's hiding the red paint I tried out over the gold and then decided I didn't like it....
After gluing everything into place, I took the Sharpie paint pen and traced around some of the cutouts. Lots of times, when I see other people's journal pages, they're completely covered from end to end with writing, images, cutouts, etc... And I have many pages like that as well, but these days, I like space on the page.
Thanks so much for dropping by! And don't forget to check out all the other newbie parties going on today!
