One World, One Heart {& giveaway}!

Hello fellow bloggers and bloggettes! Welcome to my blog. This year I am participating in the One World, One Heart worldwide event.

I'm not really good at introductions, so here is a quickie: I love photography, traveling, journaling, scrapbooking, collecting old china, dolls and snowmen. I like to paint and to play with mixed media. I also love to read. I love reading in bed, on the couch, in the park, in the backyard, on the beach, in the car and yeah, even on the treadmill :)

As a participant in this global event, I'm giving away a door prize. This is my first giveaway! All you have to do to be eligible is to have a blog and to leave a comment on this post. On February 17th, I'll either use a random number generator or draw names out of a hat.

My giveaway is a scrapbook journal. I decided to make this little book because I love scrapbooking. Now I haven't scrapbooked in a long, long time, but that doesn't stop me from stocking up on scrapbook supplies.



All items used are acid free and archival quality. The outside covers are 7"h by about 5"w with the pages being slightly smaller. They're from 7gypsies. Most of the papers I used for this scrapbook journal are from October Afternoon.



To view larger sized photos, just click on any of the pics. The book covers and pages are held together with ring binders. The rings pop right open, making it easy to rearrange the pages or add new ones.


If you count front and back, there are 26 pages. There are also a couple of smaller sheets tucked in. These rub-ons from Love Elsie and the 3D embellishments are included, too.

Flea Markets and Yard Sales

Hip, hip, hooray! Debbiedoos is having a party! It's a newbie blogger party, so come and join all the fun.

Today, I thought I'd blog about one of my passions: Buying other people's stuff! I love going to flea markets and yard sales. I'm always on the search for that perfect item that I need. I love collecting. Right now, I collect tea cups, white pitchers, dolls and books. Here are some things that I've purchased over the last few months.

I found this print in a small antique mall. I'll be re-framing this later with a wider black frame. I love the vintage image and the cats.


Another tea cup for my collection! This is made by Royal Chelsea and is fine bone china.


This is a Carnival glass butter pat dish, made by Mosser.


Milk glass dolphins are something else that I collect. I found this single guy waaaaay down in Eastern Kentucky. This candleholder was only $1. I already have a set of these with a round base.


Ohhhh, I love Harrison Ford! And since I can't have the real one, I decided to settle for his plastic double.

My Baby, Ali Cat!

Today, I decided to participate in the Pet Party hosted by Debbiedoos Blogging and Blabbing.

So, without further ado, here's my girl, Ali Cat. She will be nine years old this May. It's hard to believe that she's been mine for all these years or I guess I should say, I've been hers!


Ali is 2.5 years old here. For Christmas 2005, I decorated a box with wrapping paper and set her inside. It took a lot of "takes" to get any good shots of her in the box. I also had a Santa hat that year for her, but alas, I was unable to get any pictures of her with it on.


During Christmas 2008, Ali got a little curious and as you can see, blended right in with the decorations!


This past Halloween, I attempted to put a witch's hat on Ali. She wasn't in a cooperating kind of mood. Here you can see part of me trying to hold her in place, while my other arm is outstretched, trying to hold the camera steady and get a good picture.


These next few were taken last week. Every morning, the sun pours in through the dining room window. Ali loves to sit in the sunlight, warming her little body.


She's very small and weighs about 8 pounds. Ali's easy to scoop up, but hard to hold onto as she hates not being in control. She's still fully clawed as I didn't have the heart to have her declawed.


Ought-oh, I know this next look. It's "the crazy woman who thinks she owns me is taking my darn picture again" look. Time to skedaddle!

"Bewitched" by Fashion~ Serena's Style~

"Bewitched", which aired from 1964 to 1972, is definitely at the top of my list of all time favorite TV shows. Samantha, and her cousin Serena, were both played by the talented Elizabeth Montgomery.

Now, as an adult, when I watch this show, I can't help but notice all of the terrific outfits, not only worn by Samantha, but by Serena as well. In fact, I get quite jealous when I see a hip outfit that I'd love to be wearing today on Sam.

Serena, being a free spirit, dressed even more divinely than Samantha.


Note this pink dress with it's short length and long flirty sleeves. Hmmm... maybe I should learn how to use a sewing machine and then I could make a dress like this...


Since it's winter right now and I can't see my grass for the snow piled on top of it, I thought I'd write about Serena's winter fashions.


Here Serena wears a tasteful animal striped coat with black collar and matching black gloves. I love these winter coats. They're all made so short, but then the outfits are completed with knee-high boots.


Check out those fake eyelashes and eye shadow!


I love the 60s decorations that spring up behind her in these photos. Her coat is neutral, but accented with the gray via the collar and cuffs. Note also, her small gray purse on the desk.


This coat has to be my favorite. It looks like it's made out of tweed. I feel warm and snug just looking at it.


I love the matching hat, black gloves and fur-topped black boots that complete this ensemble.


Oh my stars! Check out the living room behind Serena. I'm not sure which season of Bewitched this still is from. Due to the couch's fabric, bright floral, I'd say close to the 70s, if not in the 70s.

Well, that's it for this episode of winter fashion I love from "Bewitched", Serena style. Let's call this part one, because I will now have to blog about Samantha's clothes and she was in every single episode...!!!

It's Snowtime!

Are you ready for some snow?


Or maybe you're already experiencing some where you live? We're getting a snowstorm Saturday night/early Sunday morning, but only about 2 inches, maybe 3. All right, so it's not a true snowstorm, but where I live people will go crazy. The grocery stores will be packed as everyone will rush out to fill their cabinets and fridges as if they were poor Mother Hubbard. I'll probably join the madness, too, as there's something about snow that gives me the munchies!
From February earlier this year, snow covered berries in my backyard:


Of course, snow means Snowman time! I don't know what it is about Snowmen, but I love them. Below is a pic of a small part of my collection, seriously, only a small part.


Here is my favorite fellow. He is Rodin, sculpting "The Thinker".


This next guy is my second favorite. I totally fell boots over hat when I saw him with his bucket of snowballs for sale.


The tasmanian devil and a snowman.


Rudolph and the Abominable Snowman. I dropped him one year, breaking his finger. I didn't have the heart to throw him out.


This little guy can't seem to figure out the lights.


And in case you're wondering, I'm a total Hallmark addict. I'd like to say that I avoid their stores at Christmas time, but I can't. It's like my feet make me go inside and before I know it, I'm spending money on some horribly cute (to me, anyway) item!

Gathering Leaves

Tea Under the Halloween Moon

What a lovely day to be outside!


Autumn is such a delight with it's warm days and chilly nights.


Today's beautiful weather is perfect for sitting outside and reading a good book!


While pumpkins are everywhere with their silly carved faces!


But, oh my, look at the time.... The sun has set and now I must set up for the tea party.


Let's see... whatever shall we make for our tea?


Pie sounds divine! Oh how yummy!


The table is all set.


And the moon is sitting high, lighting up the night with her round face.


Please pull up a chair and have a seat. There's room for everyone here!




Would you care for a cup of tea? You shall have any tea you wish for. All you have to do is think of your favorite tea and that will be the tea that flows from the sprout.


Sweet sugar cookies with a pumpkin face! They are sure to rot the teeth.


Cupcakes galore! And covered in sprinkles, too!


Chocolate is soooo hard to resist! And these little cupcakes I could eat morning, noon and night! Couldn't you???
